2012 WBC Tourney Continues Monday

11/26/2012

Three games are scheduled Monday night at the WBC Tournament. The action starts at 5 p.m. with the Walnut Ridge girls taking on Tuckerman. The Pocahontas and Sloan-Hendrix girls will play next, at around 6:20, followed by the boys at Hillcrest and Tuckerman at around 7:40.

The 54th annual tournament opened Saturday, and will continue through this Saturday, December 1.

The Monday schedule was altered after the Walnut Ridge High School football team continued its run through the state football playoffs. The Bobcats defeated Murfreesboro in the football quarterfinals Friday night, advancing to the next round this Friday. Because several members of the football team also play basketball, Walnut Ridge has withdrawn from the WBC Tourney.

The Walnut Ridge boys had been scheduled to play Maynard in first round action Monday night, so the Bobcats' withdrawal advanced Maynard to Thursday night’s game with Viola.

The revised schedule for Monday, with seeds in parentheses, is:
5:00 p.m. - Girls: Walnut Ridge (7) vs. Tuckerman (10)
6:20 p.m. - Girls: Pocahontas (3) vs. (11) Sloan-Hendrix
7:40 p.m. - Boys: Hillcrest (1) vs. (8) Tuckerman

Saturday's results were:
Final 51-40 - Boys: 51 Tuckerman (8 ) vs. 40 Southside (9)
Final 68-27 - Girls: 68 Corning (5) vs. 27 Black Rock (12)
