Baine to Serve on State Licensure Board
Dr. Brad Baine, chair of the Williams Teacher Education Program at Williams Baptist College, has been selected as a member of the state Professional Licensure Standards Board (PLSB).
Baine, who is from Paragould, Ark., was selected for the position by his fellow deans of education in Arkansas, and he will serve as a representative for private institutions. He will be on the board for a three-year term, which begins in July.
The PLSB develops minimum college level preparatory and grade point average requirements for all teachers. With the assistance of the Departments of Education and Higher Education, the board also reviews audits of the teacher education programs in the state to determine if the programs allow graduates to become licensed.
The board establishes a code of ethics for administrators and teachers in educational environments for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12, and it may establish procedures for addressing complaints regarding the unethical behavior of licensed school personnel.
