Baseball Eagles Split With Park
The baseball Eagles of Williams Baptist College hosted Park University for doubleheaders Friday and Saturday. Williams came away with a split, taking the first game both days but dropping each of the nightcaps.
Dustin Crane pitched a two-hit, complete game shutout in the first contest Friday, as Williams won 1-0. Crane fanned five batters and allowed only two walks. Chad Broadway was the hero at the plate, knocking in the winning run in the final inning.
It was all Park in the second contest Friday, with the Pirates cruising to a 15-2 win. David Shultz and Jordan Smith provided most of the offense for Williams, with each getting a home run. Caleb Dudley went 3-for-3. Shawn Selph took the loss, allowing 10 runs on 11 hits over four innings.
On Saturday, it was David Reynolds pitching a shutout for the Eagles. Reynolds scattered three hits and struck out five, walking one as WBC won the first game, 4-0. Colby Pratz was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Dudley and Jon Hamner each went 1-for-3, with an RBI apiece, and Hamner scored a run.
Park took the second contest, 5-1. Shultz went 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Adam Dahl went 2-for-4. Dylan Lynn took the loss, allowing eight hits and five runs over seven innings.
WBC ended the weekend 17-19 overall and 4-8 in the American Midwest Conference. They were scheduled to host College of Ozarks Tuesday afternoon at 2:00, and then host AMC foe Missouri Baptist Friday and Saturday. Friday’s doubleheader starts at 1:00 p.m, while Saturday’s contests commence at 12:00 noon.
