Basketball Hosts Owls in Vital Clash

The Southerland-Mabee Center will be tense tonight as two American Midwest Conference opponents battle for seeding in the American Midwest Conference tournament.  Williams Baptist College will host the Owls from William Woods.

The Lady Eagles will begin the night at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30.  Both contests will be played in Walnut Ridge, Ark.

The Lady Eagles will take on the Owls for sole possession of second place in the conference.  Both teams sit at 7-3 in conference, and one game behind league leader Columbia College.

WBC has won four straight, and eight of their last ten games this season.  The Lady Eagles have a home record of 9-2 on the season.  The two teams met earlier this season in Fulton, Mo., with Woods winning 76-62.

Williams uses a balanced attack with six players averaging at least seven points a contest.  Currently, WBC is ranked sixth in the NAIA in 3-point field goal percentage.  Jessica Shepard leads the nation in 3-point field goal percentage at 46 percent.

WWU is led in scoring by Sharron Andrews at 13.16 per game.  Woods holds teams to 57.44 points per contest.  This ranks 20th nationally.

The WBC Eagles will fight for position with WWU in the nightcap.  Both teams are tied for sixth in the conference.  The Eagles have won their last two games, while Woods has lost their last two.

The Eagles are led by junior Kyle Harvey.  Harvey leads the AMC in scoring at 17.57 points per game.  He also leads Williams in rebounding with 4.96, steals with 1.17, and blocks with .48 per game.

WWU has three players who average double figures.  Logan Decker averages 15.19 to lead the way.  Following him are Jonathon Nutt with 10.93 and Daniel Armah at 10.40.
