Crucial Conference Clashes for Eagles Await
It promises to be a busy weekend for athletics on the campus of Williams Baptist College. The campus will host four contests over the weekend between three sports.
The soccer Eagles will kick things off at 11 a.m. on Saturday against William Woods University. The two teams met in the American Midwest Conference quarterfinals in 2011. On that day, the Owls ended the Eagles' season with a 2-0 victory. WBC's record this year stands at 1-4 overall and 1-0 in conference. This will be the first AMC match of the season for Woods, which has a 4-3 record overall.
The volleyball Eagles will host Hannibal-LaGrange University in a doubleheader beginning at 11:30 a.m. Last season, the Lady Eagles finished a game ahead of the Lady Trojans for fourth place in the AMC. This year HLG is 8-7 overall and 3-1 in conference, while WBC is 11-4 overall and 3-4 in the AMC. The second contest will follow the first match.
Also, WBC's baseball team will play its first off-season scrimmage beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shell Field. The diamond Eagles will play Shawnee Community College.
