Derek Wooten/Basketball and Baseball

Local standout Derek Wooten has signed a letter of intent to play basketball and baseball for Williams Baptist College next season. Wooten is a 2010 graduate of Hillcrest High School.

In basketball, Wooten was All State (2yrs), All-Conference (3yrs), All-NEA Tournament Team (2yrs), All-WBC Tournament Team (2yrs), and All-State Tournament Team. He averaged 15 points and eight rebounds per season during his senior season.

In baseball, he was All-State (3yrs), All-Conference (4yrs), All State Tournament Team All-Star, and was a participant in the Extra Innings Classic All-Star game. Wooten plays guard in basketball and pitcher/shortstop in baseball.

He is the son of Michealle and Kenny Wooten of Lynn, Ark. Taking part in the signing were his parents, Williams head basketball coach Jeff Rider, WBC assistant baseball coach Frank Lee, and Hillcrest head basketball coach Andy Durham.

Williams is a four-year, liberal arts college in Walnut Ridge. The Eagles compete in the American Midwest Conference of the NAIA.
