Eagles Soar to Victory over Crowley's Ridge
A large crowd saw the Williams Baptist College Eagles beat the pioneers from Crowley’s Ridge College at Walnut Ridge Tuesday night. The high scoring contest finished with WBC victorious 102-82.

Both offenses got off to fast starts. In the first half, the teams put up a combined 106 points. Williams led at the break, 55-51. The Eagles high pressure defense wore down the Pioneers in the second half. The Eagles only allowed 31 points after the break.
WBC’s bench contributed 66 points, compared to a mere 17 for CRC’s. Also, WBC outscored the Pioneers 59 to 28 inside the paint. Williams dominated inside all night as they out rebounded CRC 51-35.
CRC’s Blake Wheeler of Manila, Ark. had a career night and led all scorers with 39 points. He made 14 of the 20 shots he took, including 8-of-13 from behind the 3-point line. Travis Myers of Hydro, Ark. was the only other Pioneer in double figures with 10 points.
Williams was led by Kyle Harvey of Corning, Ark., with 32 points, and he also chipped in eight rebounds and two assists. Other Eagles reaching double figures were Logan Chappell of McNairy County, Tenn., with 16, Jake Veasley of Wynne, Ark. 14, and Chase Norwood of Little Rock with 10.
Williams eclipsed the century mark in points for the first time this season, and shot a season high 50 percent from the field. Also, WBC forced 27 turnovers on 17 steals.
The Eagles will jump back onto the court on January 21, when they travel to American Midwest Conference foe William Woods University. Williams’ next home game will be Thursday, January 26, against AMC opponent Columbia College at 7:30 p.m.
