FCA Group Enjoys “Gameday at Williams”

The Williams Baptist College athletic department hosted the inaugural “FCA Gameday at Williams” Saturday before the Missouri Baptist University basketball games between WBC and Missouri Baptist University.

Some 80 students from Maynard, Corning and Sloan Hendrix had an opportunity to hear from Williams Coach Jeff Rider, women’s basketball player Kim Sutterfield, and men’s basketball player Garrett Southerland.

The event started in the Old Chapel with Pastor Bruce Stone of Witt’s Chapel Baptist Church providing the message. Upper Room praise band provided the worship music for the event.

Coach Rider shared his testimony and how similar FCA events had a profound impact on his life. He also shared with the group Coach Lou Holtz’s “Three Laws for Success.”
Sutterfield, who is a junior from Calico Rock, Ark., shared her testimony and how she became a Lady Eagle. Southerland, a freshman from Sherwood, Ark., shared his testimony and the importance of unity as Christians.

After the service the groups were able to attend the men’s and women’s basketball games.

Ben West, who is the boy’s basketball coach at Maynard High School, was responsible for the organization of the event.
