Hendrix Voted Pitcher of the Week
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Williams Baptist College junior pitcher Karisa Hendrix picked up American Midwest Conference weekly softball honors after leading her team to a first place finish in the 2012 AMC softball standings. This is her fourth time winning the award this season.
Hendrix, a righty from Cherokee Village, Ark., helped WBC maintain its No. 15 NAIA ranking as the Eagles wrapped up the 2012 American Midwest Conference regular-season championship, going 18 innings without a run, registering 32 strikeouts on the week. She started the week with six strikeouts in five innings during the Eagles' 19-0 win at home, and against Benedictine-Springfield, she tossed a complete-game three-hitter, fanning 14 Bulldogs and allowing four base runners with one walk. She went on to strike out 10 in a third complete game, this five-inning appearance against Stephens. Hendrix also tossed one relief inning at the Stars, striking out two, as Williams outscored Stephens 19-0 in a doubleheader sweep.
Hendrix is third in the NAIA in strikeouts (225) and third in wins (25), leading the AMC in both categories. She was 3-0 last week. WBC is 41-8 and will host Stephens in the first round of the AMC tournament Friday afternoon in Walnut Ridge.
