Homecoming/Parents Day is Nov. 3
Williams Baptist College is making preparations for its annual Homecoming/Parents Day celebration next month. The event is set for Saturday, Nov. 3, with activities slated all day long.
"We have several different groups of alumni who will have reunions, which is always a great time, and we will have fun activities all over campus for our students’ family members," said Aaron Andrews, WBC’s director of alumni relations.
Students from the 1940s and ’50s will have a reunion brunch at the WBC President’s Home. There is also a reunion planned for the basketball players of Coach Jim Webb, and former Williams athletes can also enjoy alumni games in both baseball and men’s basketball.
Inflatable games, a rock climbing wall and other activities will be set up on Midkiff Lawn from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a performance by the Williams Singers and The Cast will take place in Manley Chapel at 11 a.m. Amanda Burchfield will have her senior art exhibit open in Maddox Center, and WBC’s Founders Bookstore will also be open, featuring Williams shirts and other paraphernalia.
The women’s and men’s basketball teams will both take on Ecclessia College, starting with the Lady Eagles at 2 p.m. in the Southerland-Mabee Center. Homecoming coronation will happen between games, around 3:30, and the men’s game should tip off at about 4 p.m.
The WBC Theatre Department will stage "Kindertransport" that weekend, as well. The play will be staged Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2 and 3, in the Old Chapel. It begins at 7 p.m. both nights.
Andrews noted that the community is invited to take part in the WBC Homecoming/Parents Day activities. More information is available on the Williams website at www.williamsbaptistcollege.com/homecoming .
