Improvement Continues for Shane Smith
Shane Smith's condition continues to improve. On Thursday afternoon, the WBC sophomore was moved from the Intensive Care Unit to a private room at Baxter Regional Medical Center, where he is recuperating from an accidental shooting on Sunday.
Shane, who was hit in the lower abdomen with a shotgun blast, was airlifted to the Mountain Home, Ark., hospital and underwent extensive surgeries Sunday night and again on Monday. In the days since, hospital personnel have begun physical therapy and have even been getting Shane onto his feet, according to family members.
He will reportedly be in a "step-down" room, a private room which transitions patients from the ICU.
Shane, 20, is from Salem, Ark., which is where the shooting occurred. He is majoring in physical education at Williams, and he is a member of the WBC Eagles basketball squad.
He is the son of Wendall and Tena Smith of Salem.
