Lady Eagles Beat Hornets
The Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles picked up their fourth conference win of the season, beating the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday at Walnut Ridge. The men fell to the Hornets in the night cap.

The Lady Eagles won 76-50. Williams harassed the Hornets’ offense all night, allowing only 16 first half points to HSSU. HSSU began the day in a tie for the American Midwest Conference lead with four wins and one loss.
Williams had a balance scoring attack with six players scoring at least seven points. Becky Caldwell led the way with 14, while Kala Tyus had 12, Jessica Shepard nine, Cheyenne Childers nine, Kimberly Wise eight, and Briana Johnson seven. Katie Thomas chipped in ten rebounds for the Lady Eagles.
Overall, the Lady Eagles shot 44 percent from the field, while holding their opponent to 38 percent.
WBC now improves to 11-7 overall and 4-3 in conference. The Lady Eagles will travel to Columbia, Mo., to play Stephens College on February 2. They play at home next on Feb. 9, hosting Hannibal-LaGrange at 5:30 p.m.
In the second game of the day, the Eagles dropped to 1-6 in conference and 6-14 overall. The final score was 68-81, with Harris-Stowe improving to 13-8 overall and 4-1 in conference.
The Eagles shot 45 percent from the field in the game.
Chase Norwood led the Eagles with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field, and 5-of-6 from the free throw line. Zabian Sanders added 12 points, and Kyle Harvey 11.
The Eagles will jump back on the court when they travel to St. Louis, Mo. on February 4, against Missouri Baptist University. Their next home game is also Feb. 9, hosting Hannibal-LaGrange for a 7:30 tipoff.
