Williams is currently on a 17 game winning streak and holds a 19-1 overall record. The squad has a perfect 5-0 record against ranked teams. Their only loss came in extra innings against Blue Mountain College by the score of 3-2.
“It is unbelievable. If someone told me we would be 19-1 at this point in the season, I would have said ‘I don’t think so’. We have some young players at key positions and they have really grown up quickly,” said Head Coach Eric Newell.
WBC has scored 123 runs this season compared to a mere 25 for its competition. The team has a .311 batting average with 14 home runs.
The Lady Eagles strength has come defensively, boasting a .98 team ERA. Opponents are hitting .162 against WBC. The defense holds a .964 fielding percentage, only allowing 19 errors on the season.
Williams will host a doubleheader against Mid-Continent University on Thursday, March 21. First-pitched is scheduled for 1 p.m.
They will return to American Midwest Conference play on Friday, March 22, against Stephens College for a doubleheader at 2 p.m. All four games will be played at the Lady Eagles softball field in Walnut Ridge.
