Lady Eagles Receive AMC Honors

The Williams Baptist College Lady Eagle basketball team had three players recognized for AMC honors.  Courtney Sublett and Kala Tyus received 1st Team All-Conference while Jessica Shepard received Honorable Mention All-Conference.  Five players were named to the Academic All-Conference team. 

Sublett is a senior guard from Highland, Ark. She finished her career with over 1,000 points and a career average of 12 points per game. She is the daughter of daughter of Dennis and Leigh Ann Sublett of Highland.

Tyus is a junior forward from Maury City, Tenn. She led the Lady Eagles averaging 13 points and 5 rebounds per game. Kala is the daughter of Donald and June Tyus of Maury City.

Shepard, a junior guard, finished the season averaging 10 points per game and has scored 1307 career points.  She is from Leachville, Ark., and is the daughter of Patrick Shepard and Sherrie Shepard, both of Leachville.

Bethany Oakley, Olivia Orf, Jessica Shepard, Courtney Sublett, and Kim Sutterfield were all named to the Academic All-Conference Team. To receive this honor an individual must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

The Lady Eagles finished the season with a 20-10 record and placed fifth in the American Midwest Conference.

Williams is a four-year, liberal arts college at Walnut Ridge. The Eagles compete in the American Midwest Conference of the NAIA.
