Lady Eagles Struggle Against HLG
by Caleb Livingston
The WBC Lady Eagles volleyball team struggled Tuesday night in a home conference match to Hannibal-LaGrange, losing 25-20, 25-13, 25-18. With the loss, the Lady Eagles fall to 7-7 overall and 2-4 in AMC play.
The Lady Eagles had difficulty most of the night, especially with HLG outside hitter Wanessa Siqueira. Siqueira dominated from every aspect of the game, as the Lady Eagles had no answer for her. Siqueira finished with 14 kills and six aces on the match. Not to be outdone for HLG, outside hitter Cara McQuality had a match high 15 kills.
Williams could never get a rally going and was unable to stop many of the HLG rallies that doomed the Lady Eagles. For WBC, Bailey Stanley had a team high nine kills, while Makenna Wiedower had a team high seven assists. Kelsey Davault led the Lady Eagles with 12 digs defensively.
The Lady Eagles return to action Friday night, hosting Stephens College in a conference doubleheader at 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. They then will play in a tri-match Saturday in Little Rock at Philander Smith starting at 1:00 p.m.
