Lady Eagles Sweep McKendree
The softball Eagles have sole possession of first place in the American Midwest Conference after taking two wins from McKendree Wednesday at WBC. The Bearcats had been tied with Williams for the lead.
Williams, currently ranked 18th in the NAIA, took the first contest, 2-1, and then rolled to a 10-0 win in six innings in the nightcap. It was also senior day, with the Lady Eagles paying tribute to departing seniors Teighlor Melton, Tricia Driver and Kim Emmons.
Karisa Hendrix pitched and earned the win in both games. She struck out seven and scattered four hits in the first game, and she struck out five and allowed five hits in the second.
Offensively, Felicia Woodard and Tricia Driver were each 1-for-3 in the first game. In the second contest, Mallarie Lee was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Ashley Boyles was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
WBC is now 21-7 overall and 10-2 in the AMC. They have a one game lead over Columbia in the conference standings.
