Lady Eagles Sweep UBS, Win Conference
The Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles swept the Lady Bulldogs from the University of Benedictine at Springfield, Ill., on Wednesday afternoon. The two wins assured WBC of at least a share of the American Midwest Conference regular season title for the third straight season.

The final score of game one was 3-0, and the game two score was 4-0.
The two wins clinched the top seed in the AMC tournament for the Lady Eagles, assuring them of home field advantage for each game they play in the tournament.
The team’s pitching has nearly been unhittable the second half of the season. They have allowed only one run in their last eight contests.
Williams is ranked 2nd in the NAIA in ERA at 1.12, and the main workhorses from the mound have been Shelby Anderson and Karisa Hendrix. Anderson in ranked 2nd in the nation with a .72 ERA, while Hendrix’s 213 strikeouts rank her 3rd. Their combined record is 39-8 on the year.
The WBC offense ranks 10th in the NAIA for total hits, as well as total runs. Felicia Woodard leads the team in hits with 65, which ranks 15th nationally. Her batting average is .433 for the season. The team batting average is .328, which ranks 25th overall.
The team has scored a total of 295 runs, which is 6.277 per contest.
The Lady Eagles will play a doubleheader Thursday, April 19, at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. If they win at least one of the two games they will clinch the first outright regular season conference championship in school history.
WBC has a 39-8 overall record on the season and 13-1 in conference. The 39 wins have set a new school record.
