Lady Eagles Swipe Final Softball Honors of the Season
St. Louis, Mo. - The Williams Baptist College Eagles swept the final American Midwest Conference Softball Pitcher and Player of the Week honors this week with Shelby Anderson taking player accolades and Karisa Hendrix earning pitching honors.
Anderson, a freshman from Mountain Home, Ark., hit .700 through four games last week, sweeping Lyon College and advancing to the conference tournament semifinals with two wins over Stephens College. She went five-for-six against the Stars of Stephens scoring seven runs while hitting three home runs. She drove in a total of eight runs during the week.
A junior from Cherokee Village, Ark., Hendrix pitched her way to two victories last week without allowing a single run. The right-handed hurler struck out 15 batters in 12 innings while allowing just two walks. Against Stephens College Hendrix's only blemish was a hit batter as she allowed zero hits and zero walks in five innings.
The Eagles are ranked No. 13 in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll and take on fourth seeded Columbia in the conference semifinals starting Tuesday, May 1st at 2 p.m.
