Matt Pierce of Jonesboro, Ark., has committed to play baseball at Williams Baptist College. The Ridgefield Christian School product inked his commitment to the Eagles June 2nd at WBC.
Pierce, who is a pitcher, graduated from Ridgefield this year and is the first athletic scholarship signed in RCS history. He was an all-state selection and a four-time all-conference pick in baseball. He had a .410 batting average this season and a 2.35 ERA.
He is the son of Paul and Melissa Pierce.
Taking part in Pierce’s signing ceremony were his mother, sister Katie Pierce, Ridgefield Superintendent Randy Johnson, Ridgefield coach Chris Viala and WBC assistant coach Frank Lee.
Williams is a four-year, liberal arts college at Walnut Ridge. The head coach of the baseball Eagles is John Katrosh. They compete in the American Midwest Conference of the NAIA.
