Members Inducted, Officers Elected in Business Societies
The WBC Business Department has inducted three new members into an honor society and elected officers for next year in another group. The moves were announced during the department’s annual luncheon on March 31.
Inducted into Sigma Beta Delta were Tricia Driver of Montgomery, Tex.; Brooke Gage of Jonesboro, Ark.; and Mari Pinedo of Cabot, Ark. Sigma Beta Delta is the international honor society for business.
Sigma Beta Delta is open to college juniors and seniors in the field of business. To qualify for the honor society, the students must rank in the top 20 percent of their class and be invited to join by faculty of the college’s business department.
Phi Beta Lambda, another society for business students at Williams, has elected its officers for the 2010-2011 school year. The group selected Mark Yawson, a native of Ghana, as president, Lauren Taylor of Myrtle, Mo., as vice president and Tiffany Pickett of Poughkeepsie, Ark., as secretary.
Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate branch of Future Business Leaders of America. It provides a network for business students to pursue personal development and explore career options in the business field, as well as providing an outlet for community service.
Bachelor’s degrees offered through the Williams Business Department include business administration, computer information science and finance.
