Smith Crowned Miss WBC

Allyson Smith, a Walnut Ridge native, is the new Miss Williams Baptist College. Smith was crowned at the conclusion of the 2013 Miss WBC pageant Friday evening on the Williams campus.
Smith is a freshman biology major at Williams. She is the daughter of Allen and Kim Smith of Walnut Ridge.
First runner-up was Alex Western of Newport, Ark. Western, a freshman health and physical education major, is the daughter of Wess Western and Kim Western.
Second runner-up went to Tieara Burks, of Memphis, Tenn. Burks, a junior seeking her liberal arts degree, was also named Miss Congeniality of the pageant and was given the talent award of the night. Burks is the daughter of Derrick Burks and Marlo Thomas.
Third runner-up was Jameea Ward of Missouri City, Tex. Ward is a junior biology major and was also presented the Jackie Burton Award of Excellence, which goes to the Miss WBC contestant with the highest combination of interview score and grade point average. Ward is the daughter of James Ward and Alexine Ward.
The winners were presented their honors by the 2012 Miss WBC, Lauren Ring of Sherwood, Ark. Ring is a junior majoring in early childhood education. She is married to Daniel Ring, and she is the daughter of Jim and Beth pool.
A total of nine contestants took part in the pageant, which was held in WBC’s Southerland-Mabee Center. Contestants were judged based on interview, talent and evening gown competition.
Williams is a four-year liberal arts college at Walnut Ridge.
