Smith Released from Hospital
Williams sophomore Shane Smith reached another big milestone in his recovery Monday when he was released from the hospital. Smith, critically wounded Jan. 30th in an accidental shooting, has been dismissed after three weeks at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home.
The Salem, Ark., native was in his hometown when he suffered a shotgun blast at close range to the lower abdomen. He went through two lengthy operations within 36 hours of the incident and remained in intensive care for a number of days.
Smith, 21, is a member of the Williams Eagles basketball team and is majoring in physical education.
He will now continue his recuperation at his parents’ home. He is the son Wendall and Tena Smith.
