Softball Eagles Advance in AMC Tourney

It took a couple of extra innings, but the Lady Eagles have punched their ticket to the second round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament.  Tricia Driver's ninth inning single brought home the winning run, and Williams defeated Park, 7-6, to advance to the next round of the tourney.

A big crowd was on hand to watch the WBC softball squad, co-champions of the AMC, host their first ever home games in a conference tournament.  Williams won the best-of-three series, two games to one, after splitting a doubleheader on Friday.

Chelsea Sanders had a big day for Williams Saturday, going 3-for-5 with a home run and two doubles.  Junior pitcher Kim Emmons earned the win in relief, hurling the final four innings.

Next up for Williams is McKendree.  The Bearcats are the third seed in the tournament, while WBC is seeded second.  The second round series is scheduled to start Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the WBC Softball Field.
