Spartans Take Three of Four from WBC
The baseball season has hit full swing for the American Midwest Conference. Williams Baptist College hosted Missouri Baptist University in a four game series this past weekend in Walnut Ridge, Ark.

The Spartans were able to come out on top in three of the games.
The final in game one was 4-0 in favor of MBU. Bunk Coronado held the Eagles batters to three hits for the game. He pitched a complete game shutout.
Game two of the series went into extra innings, but WBC fell in the eighth. Carlos Ruiz hit a homerun in the extra frame to earn the decisive run. The final score was 3-2. Williams was led offensively by Kendall Fay who went 2-for-4 with an RBI double.
Next, the Eagles picked up a win in game three of the series. Just like game two, the game needed an extra inning to reach a verdict.
After being down 3-0, WBC rallied to tie with three runs in the third. Then, the teams traded runs in the sixth and seventh to send it to extras tied at five. Marcus Massey held the Spartans in the top half of the eighth, giving Blake Coffman the chance to line a walk off single to left.
Massey was credited with the win in WBC’s first conference victory of the season. Garrett Broadaway went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and two runs scored. Also, Tyler Williams went 1-for-3 with two RBI’s and a run scored. The Eagles outhit MBU nine to five.
In the final game of the series, the Eagles were unable to get the split, falling 12-1. WBC was held to three hits in the contest, two of them by Cogan Ford. Ford went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
The team will have the week off for spring break before heading to Springfield, Ill. on Friday, March 23 and 24, for a four game set with Benedictine-Springfield University. They will return home for a four game series with conference foe Hannibal-LaGrange University on Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31.
