Thompson Chairs Music Conference
Dr. Chris Thompson of Williams Baptist College recently chaired the South Central Chapter meeting of the College Music Society. The 25th annual meeting was held March 11-13 at the downtown campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Thompson, associate professor of music at WBC, is currently serving a two-year term as president of the chapter. While attending the conference, Thompson served as a session chair, led an open-forum discussion on the topic "Music = Communication," and presided over business meetings of the chapter membership and the chapter board of directors.
The South Central Chapter, which includes schools in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, will hold its 2011 meeting March 1-3 at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Thompson, a native of Kansas City, is currently in his twelfth year at Williams, where he teaches music theory, aural skills, music appreciation, private piano and private music composition.
