Umbaugh to Play Volleyball at WBC

The Williams Baptist College volleyball team has inked a commitment with Emily Umbaugh. The middle blocker is from Warsaw, Ind., and a 2011 graduate of Warsaw Community High School.

Umbaugh was an honorable mention selection in the Northern Lakes Conference. She has also competed on the beach, with her and her partner winning a bid to USA Beach Nationals. In addition, she has played club volleyball for five years. Her Outland team recently earned 1st place in the 18 Club Gold Division at the April 2011 JVA World Challenge in Louisville and will compete at the June 2011 AAU National Championships in Orlando.

Emily also helped the WCHS track & field team to four straight conference and sectional championships, and she has been a member of: National Honor Society, FCCLA, DARE Role Model, Octagon Club, Tiger Student Athletic Board, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She has also served as a Peer Tutor and Freshman Mentor.

Umbaugh commented, "I play volleyball wherever and whenever I can! The school, the beach, the water, walleyball, club ball, you name the location, I’ve probably dragged my friends there to play volleyball. I have been very proud to be a part of the Warsaw volleyball program, and am pumped to see what Williams Baptist has to offer, most importantly academically, but on the court, as well."

She is the daughter of Randy and Kim Umbaugh of Warsaw.

Williams is a four-year, liberal arts college at Walnut Ridge. The Eagles compete in the American Midwest Conference of the NAIA.
