A two-sport star at Cross County High School will be playing college hoops this fall.
On Monday afternoon, Jake Veasley signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge.
Veasley played point guard for the Thunderbird hoops team and quarterback for the football team. His brother, Blake, was a star running back on the football team last season.
Blake will be a walk-on football player at the University of Memphis this fall.
“I think it’s great to have brothers to get a chance to play college ball,” Jake Veasley said. “It makes us happy knowing how proud we both make our parents.”
WBC Eagles head basketball coach Josh Austin said he is looking forward to having Veasley on his squad.
“Jake will fit in well with our system,” Austin said. “He’s a great athlete. We look for him to come in and score right away.”
