Volleyball, Soccer Players Earn 2012 AMC Honors

The American Midwest Conference has released its 2012 volleyball and soccer all-conference teams. Six Williams Baptist College volleyball players and four Eagles soccer athletes were recognized for their achievements.

Jameea Ward was named to the honorable mention All-AMC volleyball team. The middle blocker is a sophomore from Missouri City, Texas. She led the team with 253 kills and 29 blocks on the year, and she finished the season ranked fourth in the conference with 1.0 block per set.

Ward also earned academic all-conference honors. Five other volleyball Eagles were named academic All-AMC, as well. They are Codie Lancaster of Bell City, Mo.; Courtney Melvin of Benton, Ill.; Katie Thomas of Mountain Home, Ark.; Emily Umbaugh of Warsaw, Ind.; Shelby Upshaw of Mountain Home; and Makenna Wiedower of Denton, Texas.

Williams soccer players named to the academic all-conference squad were Henry Pineda of Green Forrest, Ark.; Lucas Braga of Belo Horizonte, Brazil; Khalil de Lima of Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Edwin Irungu of Nairobi, Kenya.

Academic all-conference honors require the student-athlete to be at least in their second semester at the institution and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
