WBC Soccer Loses Heartbreaker to Union
The WBC soccer team lost a tough game to Union on Tuesday, 2-0. With the loss, Williams drops to 4-7-1 on the year.
Union jumped on WBC early, scoring a goal in the 20th minute of the match. The Eagles then went on the attack and had an advantage in the box, but Williams' Daniel Silva was taken down by a Union defender, giving a Williams a penalty kick. Esteban Piccinini was selected to take the PK for WBC, but Union's goalie made a spectacular save to deny Piccinini and WBC the game-tying goal.
The amazing save seemed to take the wind out of the Eagles' sails as they struggled to have any more shots on goal. Union dominated field position the rest of the match as WBC only had four shots on goal for the entire contest. Union added a late goal in the 89th minute to set the final at 2-0.
Williams returns to action this week, hosting American Midwest Conference foe Park University on Saturday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m.
