Williams Climbs to 13th Nationally, Sweeps Lyon
Walnut Ridge, Ark. - The Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles continue their climb up the NAIA top 25 softball poll. After sitting at 15th for three weeks, the latest ranking has the squad at the 13 spot.

The Lady Eagles swept a doubleheader with Lyon College on Tuesday afternoon to improve to 43-8 on the season. They edged the Lady Scotts 2-1 in the first game, and beat them 7-0 in the second game.
The team honored seven seniors in a ceremony after game two. The seniors are Mallarie Lee, Wendy Eftink, Laura Tucker, Chelsea Sanders, Ashley Boyles, Bailey Thomas, and Whitney Fowler.
WBC’s win streak now stands at 14 games, and it has won 18 of its last 20.
Pitching has played a major role in the win streak. The Lady Eagles have allowed two unearned runs and zero earned runs in the last 14 contests. The Lady Eagles are leading the NAIA in total pitching ERA by holding opponents to a mere 1.04 earned runs per game.
The offense has contributed as well. Williams has scored 326 runs and has hit safely 472 times on the season. It ranks ninth in runs and 13th in hits in the NAIA.
WBC has already captured the regular season American Midwest Conference crown, but will be looking to win the conference tournament. A win the tournament will give them an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament.
The AMC tournament starts Friday at 2 p.m. Williams will host Stephens College in a best of three series in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
