Williams FCA Holds Fields of Faith Event
The first annual Fields of Faith event was held Wednesday night, October 12, at Walnut Ridge High School. Organized by Williams Baptist College's chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the event was attended by high school students from Walnut Ridge and Hoxie, as well as student-athletes from WBC.
The speaker was former Oklahoma standout prep-athlete Herb Wilson, who told the audience of his experiences going from top athlete to a jail cell, and how God had a plan for him. He went into detail on how he found Christ through his trials.
Williams softball player Whitney Fowler noted, "Bro. Herb brought the word with compassion, gentleness, and boldness. He shared his testimony about the choices he made, pleading with the audience not to take the same road which he chose, but the one that follows Christ."
Josh McCarty, director of campus ministries at WBC, described Fields of Faith as "a very well attended event where the gospel was presented to an engaged audience." McCarty said he envisions other efforts to engage WBC students with area schools and churches.
There are plans for similar events in the future.
