Williams Softball Up to 17th in Latest Poll


The Lady Eagles of Williams Baptist College have edged up to 17th in the NAIA national softball poll.   They started the season ranked 18th in the top 25 poll.  Key victories over Columbia College and Oklahoma Christian University played a part in the higher ranking.

WBC’s record stands at 24-5 overall and 3-1 in the American Midwest Conference.  They have won a share of the last two regular season AMC titles.  The school record for wins in a season is 32, which was accomplished in 2010.  

The Lady Eagles will take the field for six games this week, against three teams.   

They will host a doubleheader against Christian Brothers University on Wednesday, March 28, beginning at 2 p.m.  Then, they will take on Crowley’s Ridge College at WBC on Thursday, March 29.  That doubleheader will begin at 2:30 p.m.  

On Saturday, they will jump back into play at with a crucial AMC matchup at home against defending AMC tournament champion William Woods University.  The doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. on March 31.  

All six matchups with be played at the WBC Softball Field in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
